Osmington Bay 2019
The Year 6 children had a fantastic time at Osmington Bay this year! We started off with a wonderful trip to Marwell Zoo on Monday in which the children saw a number of marvellous animals including tigers, giraffes, wallabies, rheas and the children’s favourite, the meerkats! We then travelled onto the PGL Centre at Osmington Bay and all of the children settled into their cabins. We then had a lovely supper and played our evening games. The first day was quite tiring but the children couldn’t wait for the start of the first activities on Tuesday morning; some were even up at 6.30am, excited and full of beans!
The children then participated in a number of different activities across the week including the Giant Swing, the Zipwire, Jacob's ladder, rifle shooting, problem solving, orienteering and archery.
Although the weather was not on our side, the children enjoyed being outside on the beautiful Dorset coastline.
Throughout the entire week, the children showed good behaviour and the PGL staff were really impressed with how enthusiastic and well-mannered our children were to each other and to other people within the centre. They were also very impressed with their ability to work as a team, problem solve and how the children showed great friendship towards each other through some very challenging experiences. One of the things that impressed the Visitation staff was the children’s abilities to face these physical and mental challenges and show great courage to succeed and even excel.
Well done to the children and staff who made this such a fantastic week!
